a Note from 12TH ST Sound
Because every person, project, and situation is unique, we choose not to display all of our rates directly on our website with the exception of basic studio time under the Recording & Engineering tab.
This does not mean our other services are unaffordable—quite the contrary, actually. We pride ourselves on providing tremendous value to all of our clients and would love to prove this to you, too!
We don’t display our rates simply to encourage you to get in contact with us directly so we can talk further about your project and cater to your needs specifically.

+ Music Production
"A music producer or record producer is a recording project's creative and technical leader, commanding studio time and coaching artists. The music producer, or simply the producer, is likened to a film director."
This is an all-encompassing "one-stop shop" service, and our tailored Music Production quotes include all of the services listed below (with the exception of Mastering). We feel that's easier to digest and gets the finer details out of the way so we can focus on the task at hand: developing a great production.
Our team of producers are experienced and absolutely love finding new ways for an artist to express themselves and take their project to the next level.
A full-scale music production project is only as successful as the preparation process, so it's best to get us involved as early as possible. We often start working even before any songs are written!
We'll start by discussing your project's goals in detail over multiple consultations, and using our network to help you build a team of any and all of the personnel needed to make your project successful: co-writers, arrangers, session musicians, etc.
If you have a solid creative idea or demo already and just need support and guidance in turning it into an album-ready or radio-ready production, we're here for that! Much of the value of this service lies in its inherent flexibility, generous studio time, and consistent communication. Our producers are happy to take on different roles depending on the project — from coach, to creative force, and everything in between.
No matter what, you can be assured our producers are always in your corner. That's the full 12TH ST Sound experience.
Please use the Book Now button at the top of the page (or at the bottom of the navigation menu if you're on mobile) to tell us more about your project!
+ Recording & Engineering
"Audio engineers work on the "technical aspect of recording — the placing of microphones, pre-amp knobs, the setting of levels. The physical recording of any project is done by an engineer ... the nuts and bolts."
We often have clients approach us who are looking for live-off-the-floor captures with a full well-rehearsed group, such as in many jazz, blues, or retro-influenced rock recordings.
As home recording continues to rise in popularity, we have also become a popular destination for indie, pop, and modern rock artists and producers to track drums or other individual elements that help them further develop and complete their own recordings.
Of course, this service is not limited to musical acts, and we also welcome podcasters, ADR sessions, audiobook or script readings, and more.
Rates for basic Recording & Engineering services are listed below.
Please contact us via the Book Now button on the top of the page (or at the bottom of the navigation menu if you're on mobile) to book your session!

+ Mixing
"In sound recording and reproduction, audio mixing is the process of optimizing and combining multitrack recordings into a final mono, stereo or surround sound product. Audio mixing techniques and approaches vary widely and have a significant influence on the final product."
Mixing is one of the most popular services we offer at 12TH ST Sound.
Whether we have recorded your project front-to-back, or you've recorded it elsewhere — whether at another professional studio or at home — a professional mix is absolutely integral to your project being as successful as it can be. In our opinion, it is a step that should always be carried out by a professional, experienced Mixing Engineer.
We prioritize creating a consistent and exciting listening experience for your audience that is genre-appropriate. We mix approximately 80/20 "in-the-box" and have all the best software (Pro Tools | Ultimate), plugins (Melodyne, SoundToys, Waves, Plugin Alliance, Antelope FPGA, etc), and hardware to make your mix really stand out.
Mixing is typically charged per project (single, audiobook, album, etc).
Please use the Book Now button at the top of the page (or at the bottom of the navigation menu if you're on mobile) to tell us more about your project!
+ Mastering
Mastering, a form of audio post production, is the process of preparing and transferring recorded audio from a source containing the final mix to a data storage device (the master), the source from which all copies will be produced (via methods such as pressing, duplication or replication)
We do not typically offer Mastering unless budget is a strict concern.
The overwhelming majority of projects we've done in the past couple of years were mastered by one of the below personnel and facilities, whom we wholeheartedly recommend to all of our clients:
- Andrew Downton at Railtown Mastering (Vancouver)
+ Room & Equipment Rentals
We often rent out our live room and vocal booth to freelance producers, engineers, musicians, photographers, filmmakers, and livestream producers.
12TH ST Sound also offers equipment rentals à la carte for use in any room rental productions on-site. We are not currently able to offer take-home rentals.
Please use the Book Now button at the top of the page (or at the bottom of the navigation menu if you're on mobile) to tell us more about your project!
